Why West Africa?

To put it simply, there are over 145 million people in this region who have never heard about God's love through Jesus in their own language. That is why we chose this region of the world to serve in. There is no Bible in their language and no one who knows the message who speaks their language. Therefore, there are over 145 million reasons to go.

This region has very few people going into unreached people groups. There may be a Gospel witness in many language groups in the major cities, but hundreds of other languages have no opportunity to hear. Who will tell them unless someone goes?

A common dismissal we hear is, "Well, there are needs right here. We need people like you to stay and serve in our community.” This is communicated with a true heart for people hear in North America. However, it is a critical misunderstanding that the needs here in North America are equal to the needs among unreached people groups.

They are equal in their need to trust in Christ for the forgiveness of sin. But do the unreached and our neighbours have equal accessibility to the Gospel? Of course not. Anyone who speaks English can literally google the Gospel message, read it, and believe it. Or they can talk to you, their neighbour. However, the unreached, scattered all over the world, have no one to hear the message from unless someone goes.

We know we are only a drop in the bucket, and there is no guarantee what sort of impact we will make. But we still endeavour to live out our lives as light of the Gospel among those who have never heard of Him.
